Re: Anaheim Brewery open this Friday

I haven't had anything. It should be a fun time trying them out. Everyone in the office is excited that they're finally opening. We've been thirsty for a good after work watering hole near the office for a long time.

Anaheim Brewery open this Friday

According to their Facebook page, the Anaheim Brewery tasting room will be open this Friday 4-9, with an official grand opening celebration in July. I'll be there at 5 (it's across the street from work :D ). I've been watching their construction and it's a very cool place. They've used the old bar f...

Re: Santa Clara de Asis Third Annual Brewfest (6/10)

No, not yet. The brewery is still technically my project with the City, so I must steer clear of any conflicts of interest. Perhaps when it is operational and I've signed off completely he'll let me pour a few :) Actually, I'm looking forward to brewing there, rather than pouring. We've got an easy ...

Re: Santa Clara de Asis Third Annual Brewfest (6/10)

I did not enter their homebrew contest. This one crept up on me. I wish I could go down to San Clemente today as well, but this family thing keeps getting in the way of beer

I'll be there pouring with Noble Ale Works. They had a good mix of breweries last year. Pretty impressive fest for a church.

Re: Orange County Fair Homebrew Competition

By foam I just meant any StarSan/Saniclean residue. As much as it still feels completely wrong, I've never had any off flavors with having some left in fermenters/kegs/bottles. There's no need to chance it with a competition however. And come to think of it, I've never bottled mead on Saniclean, so ...

Re: Orange County Fair Homebrew Competition

Thanks Chris. It's a still mead, so carbonation won't be an issue. I've never had an issue with bottling on starsan foam, but I think for the competition it won't hurt to let them dry.

Re: Orange County Fair Homebrew Competition

I have entered a mead, however upon checking my inventory I realized I only had this particular mead in wine bottles and 6 oz. bottles. I will have to open a wine bottle and fill three 12-oz bottles with it. I know with beer this is a no-no due to oxidation. Should I expect the same with mead? Any s...

That brat was good, but not $12 good. Thanks for taking those pics. I didn't even think to do that. And a tip for attending Stone: Don't bring in plastic water bottles unless you feel like being hassled!

Re: im new!

There really isn't a "brand" of starter kit, however, Eric sells a variety of starter packages at his shop. He'll be able to help you get exactly what you need to get going. As helpful as a forum board can be in learning about beer, the local homebrew shop can be even better.

Re: Water Adjustment Spreadsheets

Great. Good to know, thanks. I've had water issues in the past, which the filter has solved, but I'd like to look more into the issue.

Re: Water Adjustment Spreadsheets

When getting your water tested at Ward Labs, do you want to test your straight tap water, or water that has run through your filter? My guess would be after you have filtered it, but then you might run into the issue of the filtered water changing if you needed to replace your filter or bought a new...
