I'm with Dan on this one. For the carbonated beer, purge with CO2 and use some tubing to fill the bottle from the bottom under very low pressure. Cap on the foam, this will reduce any oxygen pickup. Mike McDole, one of this year's Longshot winners, bottles this way all the time and wins awards all o...

Hey Tonka, I'm in the process of building new system now and it will be very similar looking to yours. I am going with two pumps and the smaller burners. Those burners of your are pretty scary!! Luckily, I have a gas stub in the back yard I can use so I don't have to be right next to the met...

I think Brent should choose our porter entry.

If anyone will have a porter ready for this comp, step up and be counted.

Anyone remember how bottles for each entry for the first and second round? I'm getting ready to bottle a few beers before they disappear and I want to make sure I have enough.

I said Giants just to be different. I really don't care who wins since my Steelers aren't in it. Craig, it is funny to hear a fan of a New England/Boston sports team call other fans obnoxious. New England area fans are the most obnoxious and foul mouthed people I have ever come in contact with anywh...

Mild steel. Stainless is just too damn expensive.

I'm not using the sealed tube for the gas. Just good old galvanized piping. I'm using NG with two 100,000 BTU burners from B3 that I bought from jward. One burner under the kettle and one under the HLT.

False bottom for keg mashtun

I am looking at different options for converting a keg to a mashtun. Morebeer has this contraption. Anyone have any experience with this? I am open to suggestions if anyone has experience in this area.

By the way, Yeast Killer is picking up the steel for my Brutus brew stand today.

Hey Tim,

I'll take the Stone keg. I was going to use a 10 gallon cooler for my mashtun on my new system, but I think I will go with a keg instead. Five gallons more capacity and longer life of stainless sounds like a winner.

The Superbowl has nothing to do with who is playing. It's about eating pulled pork sandwiches and drinking homebrew with friends.

Brewing during the Superbowl?!?

Derrin and I are both having parties, you should ditch your brew day and stop by. I think Mike Kessler has been looking for a mini-fridge. I will give him a heads up on that.

I saw this in Zymurgy and downloaded it. I used it last Friday when I brewed. I worked well, but it's kind of a pain to have to have a laptop outside while I am brewing. If Lyn or Ray were brewing with me, I have no doubt that the laptop would end up getting wet or falling in the boil kettle  ....
