The Bruery Batch 300 contest expanded

Post by backhousebrew »

Batch 300 contest has been expanded to a few more categories.
Looks like I'll get to enter "Old Man Winter" strong ale.

They have also extended the deadline by 2 weeks, to give folks more time to brew up that last batch, and/or age, etc...

The Bruery just tweeted that they're still looking for some stewards to help out on Saturday. If you're not a judge but you'd like to see how a competition works this would be a good experience for you. Stewards also usually get to taste the best beers at the table without having to taste the bad ones. :) There are 176 entries to the competition, so it's pretty good size.

If you're interested, email benjamin@thebruery.com.

I was hoping to judge this one, but family commitments won't allow it.

I emailed Benjamin over there at the bruery and he said they may have overbooked the stewards. But if I show up at 10am they may have something for me to do

Big Hairy Monkey is the leftovers of my contribution to the club barrel aged beer. I bottled the rest of it and I am also planning on entering it in NHC.

I tasted it in the best of show round (it was mostly Bruery people judging, I was just hanging out). It was tasty, nice work Brad. I'm confident that it tastes better than my contribution. :)

Received the judges score sheets today.
Tough judges.
My "Old Man Winter" strong ale only got a 30 and a 31.
I had a lot of good reviews on this beer. I thought it would do better.
Oh well, try again.

Nice job! That is better than nearly all my scores... it just takes time & practice to inch those up. I'm working on some tweeks to my process in hopes that my next competition will gain a few more points...
