AIR DISTRIBUTION MANIFOLDS

Post by Grande69 »

Getting ready to add more taps, and have a question about the manifolds.

What are your thoughts about Aluminum vs brass?

I used McMaster Carr Part Number 5469K133 in my kegerator. They work great.

I see no issue using aluminum or brass.

The only problem with rolling your own is that you still need to get the mini shutoff valves and those are just about as expensive as buying an assembled manifold.

here's a link to the 8 way unit I recently bought: http://www.farmhousebrewingsupply.com/s ... roduct=340

I like the design of it for mounting purposes. I also like having each port valved so that you can shut off a line when not in use. I just emptied a tank because I had a brand new gas QD that didn't seal well (wasn't on the new manifold), and I didn't have a shut off on the line. Lesson learned - now every line has a shutoff.

Which manifold you choose, make sure it has anti-backflow features...or you may end up with a regulator full of liquid

Ditto - also the reason I went with clear gas lines instead of the red or blue ones. I want to see if anything has every backup up the line from the QD.
