Marzenale

Post by backhousebrew »

Decided to brew a Marzen over the weekend , but too impatient to wait for lagering, so, did 10 gallon all grain batch with Marzen ingredients except for the yeast. The yeast used is Safale K-97 German Ale yeast.
I don't think it can be called a true Marzen without lagering so I suppose it should be called a "Marzenale"?

I would really appreciate your opinion.
I'll let you know when the Marzenale is ready.

I have done that. I called it a festale. The malt and hops were spot on but the ale character was in your face if you tasted it next to a lager. Lagering does help.

Keep the temp low and controlled. A clean profile may be just in the style if the parameters are reached.

John, festale was a good name for it.
Could be the official drink for the Festivus holiday :lolno:

Ctninh, Thanks for the input. The fermenter has been set at a steady temperature at around 65.
I'll be racking to secondary today. Bottle in a couple weeks.
