Re: July 5th John Palmer
Sorry Eric, I won't be able to make it. I just got called in to work O/T that night. I'm really bummed-out about it, his book was my inspiration to start homebrewing. Sounds like you'll still have a pretty good showing and an even better presentation.

Re: Kegerator Questions
I love my kegerator!!! I was lucky enough to find a floor model at COSTCO (made by Danby) that only cost me $250. It holds 3 corny kegs and a 5lb. CO2 tank. The tank and regulator were included as well as a sanke tap. I watched Craig's List every day for about a month and didn't see a deal breaker. ...

Re: simple Dunkelweizen
I've used the WLP380 a few times with my Hefeweizen recipe. I like it a lot but experience has shown me that a fermentation temp. below 68 will produce more clove and above 68 will give you more banana esters. Good luck with the recipe.

Re: Yeast Starter
Thanks everyone for all the great info. I'm going with a 5L and stirplate (from Brewer's Hardware of course). FYI, i generally use liquid from White Labs because I've had pretty good results and I'm a Creature of Habit.
Re: Greetings
Yeah, I love what I've tried from Russian River (Blind Pig, Pliny the Elder, and Damnation), but based on availability and selection, I'm a Stone guy. I've only had a couple from The Bruery (both were great), but my intentions are to start trying as many as possible.

Yeast Starter
I'm gonna buy a yeast starter but wanted to know if a 2000 mL flask is big enough for high gravity (1.065 OG and up) 10 gal batches. Anyone?

Re: Equiptment recomendations
I've recently upgraded to a 15 gal kettle and I think it's my best brewing investment yet - think about it dude, 10 gal. batches. If interested, I'll sell you my 8 gal. kettle (w/ ball valve and wort chiller) for $50. It was bought at MoreBeer and used 6 to 8 times.

I'd like to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Dan and I'm the newest member of the BrewCommune. I'm a full-on hop head who loves big beers, especially Belgians. My favorite West Coast Brewery is Stone and my favorite East Coast Brewery is Dogfish Head. I'm always looking for one of their...
