OK. Sounds like just toss it in without rehydration.

Have any of you harvested the slurry and reused it on a subsequent batch??? I assume you can, but it would be good to know it has been done with success by someone here before I try it.

Dry Yeast - Why Rehydrate??

What is the point of rehydrating dry yeasts before deploying them? Would they not rehydrate in the wort just fine?

What do you guys do? If you just pour it dry into the carboy, what are your lag times?

Santa brought me eight pounds of hops, 300 pounds of grain, a nice keggle and a variety of Safale dry yeasts to try out. :D

Now all I need is some time!!! :shock:

I have used a pipette to remove a fraction from each Bottle and then add Back the same amount of fresh wort (DME) and fresh yeast. Total pain in the ass, But it saved the Batch I am happy to report.

For a nice and gnarly Barleywine it is proBaBly worth the effort.

I just harvested 4 quart mason jars of WLP001 slurry from two caboys after a three week primary. Temperature was a constant 67'-68'. I am a little aprehensive using the pitch. Second gen already.
