Re: Fast carb IPA?

Yep, I've done it that exact way. Usually I hit 40 psi for 24 hours then back it down to serving, as 30 for 24 hours in my experience will undershoot. But 30 for 48 hours will overshoot, so depending on your schedule you can find some sort of middle ground and/or check it in between to get it right.

Re: South OC non-meeting meetup

Damn. I was just about to post that Thursday is probably the only open day I have until after Thanksgiving...

Have fun without me [as usual], folks!

Re: South OC non-meeting meetup

Yeah, I can manage some of those, depending on schedule of course.

The Left Coast in Irvine is quite nice. I'm a bit of a BBQ snob, and I was very pleased with the quality of their BBQ. And of course the beer is good.

Re: Cold Crash Conundrum

I personally haven't worried about it. Usually what I've done is to loosen the tri-clamp fitting on the top of the sanke when I cold crash. I know it pulls in a little O2, but not a lot, and there's a nice blanket of CO2 sitting there. I don't think setting your regulator to 1-2 psi is a good idea. ...

Re: GameCraft Brewery open

Been there twice now. First time it was before they had any of their own stuff on tap. Had some guest beers, some food, etc. Pretty cool place. For people who like board games/etc, they have tables where a group can play, as well as a room with cornhole set up, and they have a patio. The second time...

Re: BrewBrawl Update

We can guarantee Brad won't win it. I don't think we'll be able to get him past the Orange Curtain much anymore, and any beer he brings will be suspect. He'll say it was on his homebrew/pilot system, but we'll never know. Good thing too, because I was getting tired of his beers. :happybeer: He sold...

Why to be an AHA Member

In the club-only section, there is a discussion about benefits to the club from >75% of our paid members joining the AHA. However, since there are a number of participants here who are not paid brewcommune members, I wanted to repost what I put there in case any of you are considering AHA membership...

Refrigerator sizing...

So, my fermentation fridge is on the way out. It's still not dead, but close to. After 10 years of faithful service to me (and who knows how long it was around before I acquired it), it's barely able to hold temps in the 60s right now. So that leaves me with a conundrum. I actually want to replace m...

Re: Brewcommune X OC Mashups Club Competition

How about this... Who's down for a collaboration? I know a lot of us brew 10 gallon batches, and a lot of times for me brewing 10 gallons of >8% ABV beer is somewhat silly as it'll sit in my kegerator for a year... I actually don't brew DIPAs for that reason-I can't drink them fast enough before the...
