Fermenter Build
Ok, so I am finally building my fermenter unit. It is going to be big enough for two Sankey kegs. I will be using the internals from 1 (possibly 2) mini fridges, and a temp control unit. I have a few questions for the construction guys here. 1. I bought the expensive sheet insulation that has foil o...

Re: anyone know the strength of 1/8" acrylic sheets
Yes, there should be enough to double up. I was thinking that plexiglass would be best for clean up, or do you think that a sheet of 1/2" plywood with a few coats of glossy paint would work just the same?

Re: anyone know the strength of 1/8" acrylic sheets
sorry Dan, did not explain it too well. It is just going to be a cover. Here is a little more about the chamber I am going to build. It will have a 2x2 perimeter frame with 3 2x2s across it. Then it will have a 1/2" plywood bottom, and a 1" (or 2 inch, not sure yet) insulation board bottom...

anyone know the strength of 1/8" acrylic sheets
I am looking to build a fermentation chamber and found a really good deal on this. I was going to use this acrylic (plexi-glass) as the inside bottom over my insulation board so that it would be easy to clean up any spills. I found this used sheet for 10% of what 1/4" would cost. The chamber is...

How many pounds of grain can you fit in a 10 gallon mash tun, or what about a 15 gallon keggle?

Is there a real reason to transfer to a secondary?
So, does it make a big difference if one was to let their beer sit in the primary fermenter for 3 weeks as opposed to 10 days in a primary and 10 days (or some variation) in a secondary? Also, I do not reuse my yeast, as I am too afraid to get an infection. So obtaining the yeast is not a concern of...

Anyone have scrap plywood 2x4s or pallets?
Does anyone have some extra wood that they would not mind parting with? I am really looking for 2x4s, plywood or even pallets. I have been looking for free pallets on craigslist but they are far from my house or taken by the time I call. I want to make a fermentation box and some wooden 12 & 24 ...

Fridge for sale Fermenter? Kegerator?
This is a fridge that is working great. It is a few years old, but in great shape. I have all of the drawers and shelves to make it a regular fridge. It is a 14.8 cubic foot fridge.

Propane tank, the old style. Useful at all?
Ok, I bought this at the swap meet for $10! Then I realized that it only has internal threads, and my BBQ and turkey fryer (beer stand) take the external threads.
Is this tank of any use for me, or should I just trade it in at Home Depot? Can I use the gas somehow before I trade it in?

Re: Free freezer walls
Eric, I will take them if you still have them. I am going to be building a ferm cabinet that will fit 3 full size sanke's and these would be perfect.
Thanks!
