Re: Blichmann Engineering QuickCarb

When you ferment under pressure do you have a spunding / pressure release valve? How do you regulate pressure or do you just let it go. I can't imagine that yeast in secondary are going to put out more than a keg can handle but would it affect the quality of the fermentation?

As a developer, parking requirements are too damn high. Also if you're drinking 800 calories you might consider Uber.

Re: Blichmann Engineering QuickCarb

I have tried that but I initially over-carbonated then subsequently in trying to fix it ended up under-carbed. If I wasn't aiming to submit a few beers for competition I probably wouldn't make the purchase. I can, but I don't need one more piece of uni-tasker equipment. In the future I'll forward pl...

Blichmann Engineering QuickCarb

I'm looking to purchase a Blichmann quickcarb and would like to know if anyone would like to split it with me. I brew about once a month and I imagine that a few of us could share custody when you need to carb. I'm short on time with getting some beers ready for the SD & OC Fair competitions and...

What is everyone's take on used kegs? Anything to consider? A keg is a keg is a keg?

Chris, I enjoyed your gruits. I see you're in CdM. I'm up near Spyglass (Newport Ridge). We should grab a beer sometime at the Place.

WTB Corny Kegs

I'm in the market for some additional kegs. I have a 5 gal. AEB one I purchased from Keg Connection for $100. If anyone has an extra keg to sell or donate, or knows of a better deal please let me know. My freezer can hold four so I am open to purchasing three kegs. New would be preferable only becau...

Re: Exact iDip Water Testing Kit

Brad, excellent. I just placed an order for a home RO system. They were having a sale so I went with an 8-stage system (overkill for sure). 1 Sediment, 2 Carbon, 1 RO, 2 Deionization, 1 UV, 1 Post Carbon. It will be set up in the kitchen for drinking and I'll drain to my kettle for brew days. I've p...

Re: Lager Fermentation Schedule

I've connected my http://www.tilthydrometer.com/ to an old iPhone and the iPhone uses the Tilt app to post to a Google Sheet I can access online. It's pretty slick. For $120 and the convenience of not having to take regular gravity readings I would say it was worth the money. The beer is hovering in...

Re: Lager Fermentation Schedule

I am using gravity as I get an estimate each 15 minutes remotely. I will wait until tomorrow afternoon to begin my ramp to 70 with a two day hold. Attached is a graph of my current fermentation with scheduled temps. It will update automatically as data changes and you refresh your browser. https://d...
