Re: 2023 National Homebrew Competition

I've been thinking about it, but right now I only have a mead that is fermenting. I'll have to see if I can set aside some of my SCHF server brew for some bottles... It all comes down to timing, but I'd like to get something in there!

Re: Honey supplier

I'm going to stick to what worked before.. namely, Oskaar's mead making instructions from 2010 Club Mead Brew Day. I'm doing this first one on a smaller scale (2.5gal) so I can remember all the stuff I forgot. So far, only minor missteps, but I got it fermenting in my closet as we speak! So ...

Honey supplier

Hey all, I'm going to be getting back to some mead making this year. I really enjoyed sharing my last few bottles with the club, and I'm all out! I ordered a 10# bucket of blueberry honey from Crystal's Honey, and their free shipping had it here within 10 days. Tomorrow, I'll use it for a 2 gallon b...

Re: Style Presentation for the July Meeting

Well, I brewed an English Dark Mild for the last meeting, and it ended up being on a night I could not make. (however, I managed to bring it to SCHF!) Good news, is that it is also a clone of Black Tusk Ale from Whistler Brewing Company in Canada. Ignore the BA rating, as it is a real nice beer, and...

Re: Anyone have a wort chiller I can borrow this weekend?

Hey Romen, Sorry to have missed your post. Did you end up brewing on Father's Day? Curious if you found a chiller, or improvised something for the day. When I used to do 2.5 gallon extract boils, I could just put my boil pot in the sink full of water and stir. Much faster when you have a wort chille...

Hey Sean,

Sorry that I missed your message prior to the fest! I remember seeing you at the Quaff booth, and I knew you looked familiar, but I didn't connect it all. (It was a good beer day, no?) :happybeer:

Hope to see you soon at another event or something!

Re: May Club Meeting- Pub Ale Style Presentation

I have a Dark Mild recipe that I like, so if I can get my act together for this, perhaps I will do a partial mash extract version of 5 gallons. I'll have to check my schedule...

Re: Mead Day - Honey Group Buy

Can do 1 or 3 gal. -Calvin Certainly, you can do any size you prefer. However, it is just as much work for 1 gal, 3 gal or 5 gal. Perhaps you can ferment 3 gal, and then rack to 3 one-gallon jugs, and spice one, fruit the other, and keep one straight mead. Its all up to you! There is no boiling, so...

Re: Mead Day - Honey Group Buy

I'm happy to try and pass along some of the advice I received from many of our great mead-makers here in the club. I had been unsuccessfully making mead on my own for a few years, and when I joined Brewcommune, I met Oskaar (Pete), Lars & Jward right away, and learned so much from them and other...
