Meet me for a Drink!
Rico and Nico (rhyme not intended) were planning on meeting tomorrow for a drink. Rico wants some of my kaffir lime leaves and lemongrass for a wit beer this weekend and I may find the time to meet up with him to pass on the goods. Over at another message board, I had a part in starting what was cal...

Re: Tommy's #3 "Pliny Tribute IPA"
Were you dry hopping with leaf hops or pellets? Granted 6 oz is quite a bit either way, but I can't imagine you losing a huge amount if it was pellets. I prefer pellet hops for everything, especially dry hopping in the secondary. Dry hopping "naked" or "commando-style" is the on...

Re: Tommy's #3 "Pliny Tribute IPA"
I know. It looks crazy on paper but you have to try it. I started with regular white cane sugar and I made one of the "best beers" the Brew Captain said he ever tasted about a year ago. I called it the "Mid-Life Crisis IPA." I boiled and added lemongrass from my house twice and i...

Re: July Club Meeting 7/19/11 (Tuesday) 7pm @ Nobel Ale Works
When I re-entered homebrewing a year ago, I found it fascinating how many IT people were homebrewers. I almost felt like an outcast compared to the geek knowledge possessed by my peer homebrewing friends. I shouldn't really be surprised, however, since homebrewers are in fact a more advanced and evo...

Tommy's #3 "Pliny Tribute IPA"
Tommy is a friend at work who is the only one that has asked to be my brew apprentice. We always brew at my house and use my beginner's equipment because his wife isn't too fond of him drinking period, not to mention brewing his own. He so loved Pliny when he tried it for the first time, he asked th...

Re: The Brewfooery #16 "Big Bodhi Wit"
Agreed. I was told to steep the oates to just get the haze for the wit style. I was actually trying to make a similar wit my friend, Daniel, made but he does partial mashing. I am still learning and he may show me in the near future how he does partial mashing. I have been making some decent beer wi...

Re: July Club Meeting 7/19/11 (Tuesday) 7pm @ Nobel Ale Works
Thanks to all the veteran Brewcommies for welcoming me and another new face, Rico. I was a bit worried driving down there when I saw the Angels' game starting up. Traffic wasn't too bad as I exited but then as I followed my GPS towards Noble Ale Works in the industrial complex, I saw numerous police...

The Brewfooery #16 "Big Bodhi Wit"
Since I'm a newbie here, I thought I should post some of my Frankenbrew recipes which I plan on bringing tonight to my first meeting. This was my first extract wit beer recipe which, like most of homebrews, I couldn't resist adding stuff to whether it's known to be in style or not. I've experimented...

Re: Introduction
I'm Chad. Some people may already know me as Brewfoo from the AHP Message board. I've always heard of Brewcommune but never visited the site or attended a meeting until today. I'm here now under the recommendation of a few friends like nico soze who told me about the July meeting tonight which I pla...
