storing bottles for carbonation

Is it okay to store bottles sideways so I can put more beer in my small fridge during carnonation or does this affect carbonation?

My extract instruction recommends boiling 2 to 2.5 gallons of water. But, would it be ok to use 5 gallons of water to boil if you have a7.5 gallon pot. Would this alter anything. Should I take the bucket out everyday to check the ferometer or is there a better way to take temperture. I'll be trying my first batch tuesday or wednesday.

minimal leak in wort chiller, any solutions

I have a wort chiller and one of the connections leaks very slow, not enough to drip. I may try putting mighty puddy, but I am not sure if this will harm the beer since puddy is toxic. Any ideas on what I should do. I may tighten it more, but I am close to striping it.
