share wheat malt?

Anyone interested in splitting a sack of wheat malt? I don't need 50 lbs but 20-30 would work fine.

When will there be a good brewery in Corona?
FWIW, the beers I tried at Skyland were all good. I noticed they had one I did not try called Circle City Saison....

I don't plan to go back to extract either, but I may do extract again especially if brewing somewhere else.

Re: Water Chiller for Sale

Do you know how much heat it can remove? 1/10 of an HP is half the power of my under powered dorm fridge.

Re: Tips for first extract batch since 2006?

I would do your boil with all the water and as much time as your hop schedule calls for. I think you will get better results with the boil, hops, and wort interacting the way you are used to and expect. You probably could save some time with a shorter boil and starting hops in just water. I never di...

Re: Outdoor brewing - direct sunlight & boil hops

I was curious how many folks brew outdoors in direct sunlight? Not under the garage awning or patio cover... but in full sunlight. I brew in what ever sun is available. I read some suggestion that the heat of the boil prevents the UV reaction from occurring. If that's true I would expect wort to be...

Let me ask a dumb question. Are you weighing 3/4 oz on something like a hop scale or using a dry ingredient measuring cup?

Re: Exact iDip Water Testing Kit

Did my first brew day and test of the Smart Brew kit yesterday. The results were interesting. I am going to wait to publish any results since I am also sending a water sample to Ward Labs for analysis. Once I get the results from Ward Lab, I will publish all the results. That's what I was going to ...

locally succesfully hops

Which varieties of hops have grown and flowered well for you? From casual conversations it looks like some hop varieties don't know they are a "long day" plants and some do.

T-49 fridge

I have a True T-49 (2 door) fridge free to a good home. I purchased it to use as an insulated box but the refrigeration still mostly worked. It no longer mostly cools and I need more garage space. If you want it it's yours.

I was thinking I would make a sample tube out of copper pipe to stir in a cup of iced water but never got that far.

Re: Doppelbock questions

I have heard brewers argue that hot break is bad but cold break is good because it can provide yeast nutrients. I would think leaving the cold break behind, as you propose, is better especially if you add yeast nutrient.
