Re: DIY Glycol Chiller?

I'm using a chest freezer as the glycol tank. It works great.

Ask Curtis about pumps too. Brewers Hardware may have other pump options.

Re: Keg cleaning

I don't recall reading any recommended schedule for O-ring replacement. Generally, when I get a keg it gets new O-rings. Then it's as needed. I do like silicone for QD bodies and quad seal for the dip tubes.

New beverage line only gets Starsan before first use for me.

Re: HYDRO TEST CO2 BOTTLES

If you are exchanging cylinders some places will not charge you for hydro testing. However, you need to only use them. Also, if you have a very nice tank exchanged tanks tend to look very well used....

Re: Lager Fermentation Schedule

I can confirm that the Tilt works through my 8 gallon jacketed conical from Brewers Hardware to a Rpi running TiltPi.

The acrylic case seems to be a good insulator as it was very slow in keeping up with temperature changes as the wort dropped from ~80F to 52F pre pitching.

lager in a conical

My next scheduled beer will be a schwarzbier as I can finally step up to lagers using the a Brewers Hardware conical https://www.brewershardware.com/8-Gallon-Stainless-Steel-Glycol-Jacketed-Conical-Fermentor.html . I was wondering if lager yeast is bottom fermenting then a conical might be a less op...

Are you using the "fast lager" fermentation technique?

Re: Lager Fermentation Schedule

Reid, now that you have used your tilt for a while what do you think about it? How well has the battery lasted, and how well did changing it go?

Re: Summer Shandy

Your recipe looks like it will be a nice refreshing beer, but probably not like a shandy. I like Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen which is a radler more then a shandy which are traditionally a lager and lemonade mix. BTB, when looking how to make one of these I came across the information that le...
