Re: iBrew - First Photos

Very nice Derrin! Let me know if you end up making more of your own design, or if the group project gets off the ground and needs a beta tester. That looks like it would be a great upgrade for my 1.5 BBL setup.

I actually had a bottle conditioned beer that was made with yeast. I picked it up on a visit to Universal Studios as it was brewed to promote the Jurassic Park ride. I bought it with the intention of trying to harvest the yeast from it, but instead sent the bottle to White Labs a couple of years ago...

Very nice Brian! What size burner do you need? I posted one on the classified's here that was pretty cheap, but you probably have better contacts! I already have the natural gas burners. I just don't have it stubbed out where this is setup at the house. Eventually it will all be back over at the sh...

We have a big block party on the 4th of July. A lot of it will probably go towards that :)

1.5 BBL Brewday

I pulled my big system home and set it up in the garage just so I can start using it. I brewed the first batch this last Sunday. I took a few pictures and did a little write up and posted it on my never updated personal homebrewing blog. It definitely needs the second burner I was planning on. I tho...

Just to add my 2-cents on the pumping Star San thing, I've been running it through my pump for years and have never once had a problem with it loosing its prime because of the foam.

Brian has a 6' or so SS coil inside his fermenter and uses a bucket of glycol inside a chest freezer. The performance isn't great with that method, but perhaps a better heat exchanger inside the chest freezer would help. Actually it has been doing much better. My original issue was an underpowered ...

That's great info, thanks for posting the link (and inspiring it). Did you consider putting a 6' loop inside the fermenter to avoid the need for large amount of coil on the outside? If so, what were cons of doing that? That is exactly what I did with my 12.2 gallon Fermenator. I have 10 gallons of ...

Unless I am doing something that really requires a specialized yeast, all I am use anymore is the Fermentis products. I have had great success with not rehydrating and progressively sprinkling the yeast across the surface area of the wort (the Fermentis recommendations). I usually do not go back and...
