Re: Chlorine/Chloramine

I use a Brita countertop filter. The Brita website states that their filters remove chlorine and chlorimines, not sure if this includes chlorides (which are wanted if you are making a hoppy beer) Gypsum is CaSO4. I will usually just add some gypsum if I'm making a hoppy beer, CaCl if I'm making a ma...

Re: Hello from Ryan!

Welcome!

I'm in the middle of a move, leaving Westminster for Riverside. Joining the club was one of the greatest things I could have done for my brewing. The knowledge base is insane. The different angles and methods that are out there, you will take your brewing to another level!

Re: World's Strongest Beer?

For me the interesting thing is to see how the state and the Feds fight this one out. WA and CO have absolutely thumbed their noses at Federal drug laws, and I can't imagine it's being well-received in DC... Hurumph... my $.02... too bad so sad, DC. Call be a 10th'er... The federal governement has ...

Re: When do you usually brew?

I brew on the weekends 99% of the time, I usually start anywhere from 6 am to 10 am. Over the past year, since I started AG brewing, I have been setting up in the driveway on the side of the house. Since I don't have a garage to put everything, the start of my brewday consists of me lugging all of t...

Re: November Meeting

I'll see ya guys there. I don't have a "fall" beer per say, but I do have a Swcharts/brown porter that I did with US-05, fermented at lager temps.

Re: Lallemand BRY-97 American West Coast Yeast

One thing I haven't seen to be too good with US-05 is flocculation. When I tried the SD Super Yeast, that yeast cake dropped like a freakin' slab of cement. +1 US-05 is great, but it is super powdery. Having a more flocculant alternative with a similar flavor profile would be a definite plus. Crash...
