I didn't think about the plastic corks... hmmmmbrahn wrote:No floor corker, but I've used the Belgian style bottles with the plastic corks they sell at B3.

Floor corker for Belgian bottles
I'm getting set up to brew my split batch of Belgian Dubbels. I'm thinking I will want to bottle in traditional Belgian bottles. Does anyone have a floor corker that will handle the Belgian bottles, that they would be willing to loan to me for a weekend... I don't think I will need the corker until ...

Brew day @ Jon's Place
Thanks to JonW for the use of your driveway today. It was great to see your system at work, with all of the automated controls... flippin awesome!
I know I said it before, that smoked chicken was dyn-o-mite!
It was great to meet everyone else present, sorry, I'm really bad with remembering names.

Re: Suggestions for adding oak soaked in bourbon
The reason for the difference in time is the difference in contact surface area to volume of liquid. In general, as the size of your container is reduced, so does the time you keep the liquid on it.

Re: Suggestions for adding oak soaked in bourbon
With the bourbon soaking, you will not need to worry about sanitizing, as the 40%+ EtoH will cover that. As far as how long, it will vary from 2 weeks to 2 months+. The best way to tell if your beer is done, is to take a sample, see how it tastes. Note: You can always increase the time on oak, you c...

I too do not see much difference, what I am really waiting for is the cloud availability via smartphone. I would really like to be able to refference my recipes while at meetings or out with friends.

Re: Champagne floor corker?
I have been thinking about this recently, as I plan on brewing up a "double - dubbel" batch here in the next couple of weeks. I will brew ~ 8 or 9 gallons of dubbel, split the wort and use WLP500 and WLP530. I would sure like to cork up the whole thing, to allow for the proper level of car...

Re: Two infusion CA Common
Brew day success... and... it seems my efficiency is through the roof. Accourding to the hydrometer, my efficiency is in the 88%+ range. 10.25 lbs of grain 1.067 OG.... Is a little high for CA Common, but the slightly higher mash temp and .75 oz N'brewer first wort hopped, with the 1.25 oz at 15 min...

I've done mash temps of 150, 152 & 154 for different ones I've tried. Was there a temp that you preferred? I'm thinking that I will wait for the protein rest... I have some rye coming in on my next order... may make a ryePA or something along those lines... eventually. Thanks for the info, I th...

Not sure about other mills, as I have bought and have been using the Morebeer 2" mill. So far I have seen efficiencies over 80%
I haven't actually calculated it's time per pound, but if I had to guess, it is about 1 pound per minute... ish.
