I think in Berlin they add a woodruff syrup to their Berliner Weisse offerings. Not sure what to do with it in a dry form...
Make woodruff syrup and a Berliner Weisse I suppose!

Re: Non-Beer - Sofa
If nobody takes you up on this do NOT tell the Salvation Army that the sofa has a sleeper bed. They won't come and get it if you do (at least that was the case for me a few years ago when I moved back down from NoCal)...

Re: Questions about Mead
Hey Cesar, First of all welcome to the board! K:-) Here are my answers to your questions: 1) yes, the honey adds to your volume and this needs to be factored. 2) that sweetness is mostly going to go away once the honey is fermented, acid or no acid addition. 3) every recipe has a different target gr...

Re: Great Marinade
That does look good. I find myself creating a new marinade everytime I need one (same thing with homebrew recipes!). I have not made the same one twice although all share one thing in common - lots of fresh crushed garlic!!!

Re: Transporting beer
If you are able to get the kegs on site and under refrigeration (or on ice) the day before you should be good to go. If you are transporting them the day of the event you might end up with less than crystal clear beer due to the yeast and solids getting worked back into suspension. One way to avoid ...

Re: 2009 OC Fair Comp
Ditto. Big bummer. I can't find time to brew no matter what I do lately. Six hundred pounds of grain on hand, eight pounds of hops, six yeast strains and not a drop of homebrew in sight!! I have been drinking Bud Light for months now. Absolutely sickening! Plus, we are pregnant again (baby #6) so I ...

Re: Need help improving the taste of my beer
Chris - I would agree that your recipe seems fine. With that stated mash temp and the Munich/Melanoidan malts you should have ended up with a definite malt presence, but you didn't. I think Brahn and Rezzin have identified the correct problem (low mash temp), but not the cause. I suspect that your t...

Re: Fermenting and Storing
http://www.brewcommune.com/coppermine/albums/userpics/10070/P2060054R.JPG This is my low tech way of maintaining fermentation temperatures. I can add ice packs or warm water as needed to hit my target temperatures. I strongly believe that due to the cyclonic nature of the fermentation that the temp...

Re: Brewing at TBC (not a Brewcommune event)
That really blows dude, but it could have been much worse!! You could have ended up with one gallon fermenting and five in your upholstry! I once had a five gallon bucket full of freshly milled grains ready for the next days brew session that went flying when I had to slam on the brakes on the freew...

Re: Exploding mead...
When I was judging the Sam Adams comp in San Diego a few years back we had an entry that literally escaped the bottle and turned into meringue the instant the bottle was opened. There was not a sigle drop of liquid beer left to sample in the bottle (not that anyone was keen on the idea of judging th...
