Got my scores back. Roggenbier scored 37.5, Blonde 36.5.

They panned the Hefeweizen though, with only a 27. Far lower than I expected. One judge said he detected acetaldehyde and a bit of carbonic bite, the other just said it was lacking in flavor/character. I'm going to have to taste it with these notes in mind and see if I can figure out whether that makes sense...

Thanks all! Just placing in the 1st round is quite an honor. I am hopeful as we go into the final round in June!

I do have some pretty impressive competition in this category however. Mark Tanner, who beat my Metheglin in the 2013 Mazer Cup, and has taken home several gold Mazers that year & last, has an entry in Category 26 this year. There are 3 other Mazer cup winners in the mix, and this will be a small, yet competitive final round. Wish me luck!

I have Monday June 1st on my calendar to drive my beers to Ale Smith. I'd be more than happy to deliver anyone else's who advanced.

FYI, after dropping off the entities for myself and Chris, let me state that it's a bit screwy. Alesmith is building a MASSIVE new brewery, which is the new shipping location for entries. The place is a mess.

When you drive up to visitor parking, the first area you see is where their tasting room is going to be. But there's nobody there.

You need to walk WAY down past the brewery, past shipping/receiving, to their temporary offices. Then, you need to find someone. Or, you can just put your beers on the pallets full of entries, which after I finally talked to several people, is where they went.

I recommend boxing them up, if you can, like you're planning on shipping them. I suspect they're going to shrink-wrap the pallets, use a forklift, and truck them to the judging site.

wow. that's a bit .. crazy.

Thanks for taking down my entries! :happybeer:

For anyone else, you have until the end of the weekend to get them down there. Check the competition website for details.

Yeah, I was so distraught that I had to stop at Mike Hess brewing afterwards.

And then at Green Flash.

It was rough!
