newbie question

Post by supplyndmnd »

I'm fairly new to homebrewing and currently brewing an extract newcastle clone. I have my plastic fermentor sitting in a tub of water .My question is, would it be ok to add a little bleach to the tub water? The water seems to get a little slimy by the time I'm ready to keg it, and since the spigot is submerged in water as well, will the bleach give the beer an off flavor when I keg it? Or should I just change the water out?

I know I probably just need to relax and have another beer, since I've brewed a couple batches without problems, but can't help wondering if the slimy water will effect the beer if I don't have a chance to keg it within a couple weeks.

Thanks in advance,

Ray

A little bleach wouldn't hurt anything.
