Cost of Steel

Post by backyard brewer »

Yikes! I just got a quote for 2 20' sticks of 1.5" .065 wall SS square tubing.... $295 each  20' 1/8"X1.5"X1.5" SS angle was $95.

I think a mild steel structure will be just fine!

Yeah, I went with mild steel on mine too. I paid just under $100 for 2 20' sticks of 2" square 1/8th wall tubing cut to my specs. I couldn't see spending nearly $600 for stainless.

I'd pay like $300 or so. Mine stand is outside most of the time so SS really appeals to me. I guess I could make it all out of angle instead of box.

Wow, we should probably raise our prices here at work. We sell some stainless steel tubes for soil samples, and our 1.5" x 6" tubes (.035 wall) is $1.50, so 20' would be $60. Too bad that is 40 pcs.
