Big Mouth Glass Fermenter

Post by lexuschris »

Just saw this today and thought it pretty interesting.
http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/big- ... allon.html

I've never had glass fermenters, and I've only heard a few horror stories of breaking carboys. However, I do like the big-mouth and screw on lid. Easy to clean, add dry-hops, etc. and should be easier to get a great seal.

.. and JUST in time for the holidays!

It does look like a big improvement over traditional glass carboys. Still a downgrade from plastic buckets though!

If they made a plastic big mouth carboy, then I would be interested.

I would think that with the availability of various food-grade plastic containers with screw lids, this could be found...

US Plastics carries carboys with wide openings in food grade materials
A tad expensive

Another option is to buy the 6 or 8 inch tri-clover fitting from Brewers Hardware and weld to top of sanke
