I picked up the polished kegs today. Holy crap, they did a nice job! I polished the kettles on my previous brew system and they looked pretty good, but they were nothing like these. These two pictures are in the shade and you can see the mirror finish. If I remember, I'll try to take another shot tomorrow with them in the sun.
The guy that did them said the price would be the same for anyone else - $50 per keg. This does not include the top or bottom of the keg. This is the side (and over the rim) only. If you want the top done, it is another $50 simply because they would have to do it completely by hand.

I haven't fired a fermenter on the burner in at least 8 months or more. I've been using my keg cleaner w/ PBW, then the the keg brush on the drill w/ PBW, then rinse, then Starsan.

I do all the same, except I replace rinse w/Starsan with firing the burner... I can't imagine Starsan is more effective than a big dose of steam...
My old keggles that were polished were for my HLT and MLT and they looked good after a lot of use. Heck, look at our SS kettles that we use and other than the very bottom, they look fine. The only discoloration that might happen is going to be in the lower skirt. I say go for it!
