how to clean and store a jockey box?

Post by Andysam »

I have a jockey box that I just built and am running into trouble maintaining it. I usually just rinse out the lines with water for a long while, and then blow it out with compressed air. However, I am worried that I am not getting it dry enough and that mold or something will grow.

I usually clean the lines with Liquid Line Cleaner or Beer Line Cleaner and rinse with clean water. I then fill the lines with StarSan and leave it in there until next time I use it.

At The Bruery we clean it with caustic for a couple minutes, then purge that with CO2 and rinse with acid sanitizer for another couple minutes. Then we put CO2 or compressed air through until most of its out and leave the cooler open for a while to dry. The little bit of sanitizer left in the coils won't have any issues.
