can the keg be hot when using a jockey box?

Post by Andysam »

I am going to a 3 day concert and bringing a keg of homebrew. The keg might get to about 60-80 degrees. If I have a jockey box, will this work? will the beer still taste good? Will it foam like crazy?

Hi Andy
I have used kegs and a jockyey box during hot summer days and beer was fine. Do not use a hand pump....use co2 and watch pressure

You should be fine, but one keg is not enough for 3 days.

LOL, Brad you are right! One keg may be enough only for me! But i only had the time to brew one, and it is a birthday gift. Its a BMC crowd, so it is a light ale.

One the same subject, the festival only allows cans, no bottles. They are supposed to be strict on this. What good beer comes in cans?

I saw another craft beer in cans at BevMo the other day, but I can't recall what it was at the moment.

Caldera brewing cans their beers. I've had the IPA and it was good.

Oh, and Ska Brewing cans some of their beer too, but I don't think it's available in CA.

Maui Brewing Company has an excellent IPA (Big Swell IPA) in cans. You can also get it at BevMo

That's the one I saw the other day that I couldn't remember. Haven't tried it yet, but I will pick some up next time I go to BevMo.
