Yeast from The Bruery?

Post by BadSaxx »

A lot of the microbreweries in the Pacific NW will provide their house yeast to homebrewers in quart/Mason jars on request -- you provide them a clean, sanitized jar, and when they crop the yeast from the fermenter they fill up the jar and leave it for you in the cooler to pick up. Will The Bruery do that? Anybody on the forum ever try that? Anybody have any idea what the house yeast strain is at The Bruery? An Orval variant?

This is something that only Patrick would be able to ok. Unless you know him pretty well I doubt he will let anyone have some. They use their own special strain, so they try to keep it to themselves.

Sorry, we usually do not give our yeast out to home brewers. You can prop it up from a bottle of Orchard White though!
